Microblading

Microblading – also known as Feather stroke – is a cosmetic procedure that inserts pigment under the skin to give you well defined and fuller brows.

This cosmetic tattooing procedure fills in thin eyebrow areas to make them look naturally fuller.

Our qualified technicians will conduct a free consultation to make sure you are a good candidate and walk you through the process.

We not only offer Microblading as a service here in Whangarei but we are also a certified trainer. We have many years experience and always put the safety and health of our client first.

FAQ's

For people with thin eyebrows looking for what some consider to be a semi-permanent infill. It’s beneficial for people who already have some brow but just want to enhance the look with small feather touch strokes, so they blend in with the natural brow and look natural.

Thin, tiny incisions are made on the surface of the skin with a handheld tool. The Microblading tool has a tip made up of several thin pins that act like a very thin blade that’s dragged through the skin in a stroke that mimics the shape, curve and length of eyebrow hair.

Microblading is perfect for people who want a realistic brow. I always say it’s the ‘get up and go look’, however Microblading will allow you to fill in the brows with makeup once healed if you want a more glam look

There are a few factors to take into account when considering Microblading as there are some that it isn’t suitable for;

  • Pregnant or Nursing
  • Those prone to keloids Scarring or post-inflammatory hypo-pigmentation
  • Diabetes (will need medical clearance)
  • History of MRSA in the last 6 months
  • If you have a transmittable blood disease such as HIV or Hepatitis
  • Abnormal Heart Condition (will need medical clearance)
  • Patients undergoing Chemotherapy
  • If you have any kind of skin condition on or near your eyebrows. This includes eczema, shingles, rashes, or anything else near eyebrows.
  • Very Oily Skin
  • Taking Accutane/Roaccutane  (has to be off meds for at least a year)
  • Taking Blood Thinners such as: Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Coumadin etc regularly.
  • Allergic reaction to alcohol or numbing agents
  • Those with dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoos or permanent makeup
  • Those under the age of 18 years old

The freedom to dress up the brows or leave them natural. Apart from your normal shape treatment on the brows, if you need one, that’s it!

A question I get asked a lot is will I still have to have them tidied or waxed? The answer to this is yes, Microblading will enhance the brows but not stop the brows from growing where they shouldn’t be.

A consultation is an absolute must for this treatment as it enables the technician to explain the process and asses your skin type to make sure they are a good candidate for the treatment. This is something we offer free of charge.

Refrain from Drinking
It’s important to keep alcohol consumption to a minimum. Do not drink for 2 days prior to your appointment. Also, refrain from having coffee before your session. These substances thin the blood and will cause you to bleed excessively as well as compromise the outcome of the work.

Check Restricted Meds Lists
Blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen and other pain relief meds will also create a situation where you are bleeding excessively and will not allow your appointment to continue successfully. Be sure to check the list of restricted meds well before your appointment.

No Tanning
You should stay away from tanning beds or spending too much time in the sun as extreme exposure can create a layer of dead skin that affects the outcome of your brow tattoo and could even lead to irritation.

Be Careful with Face Creams
Anything with a Retin A or another AHA skin care product can have an effect on the final outcome of your brows. The lightening, tightening and other agents should be avoided.

Skip Your Workout
Don’t work out or sweat too heavily you don’t want to do anything that opens up the pores and causes the pigments to bleed or not take properly.

Get Relaxed
You’ll be lying down really still for some time. Dress comfortably and be prepared to relax while your artist works on your brows.

Leave your Brows Alone
Don’t wax, tweeze or thread your eyebrows before your Microblading appointment. It’s easier for the artist to work off of your natural growth and shape and there will be less skin irritation or other issues as they tattoo.

Check Your Health
Any illness, from a bad cold to a blood condition, diabetes, and even pregnancy are to be discussed with the microblading artist prior to booking. You will not be able to secure your appointment with these conditions so be honest upfront.

Understand the Procedure
Take some time to learn about the process you will be going through to get your incredible brow outcome and learn what to expect in the journey. Things like how long your brows heal all depend on whether your skin is oily or dry and how quickly your scabs may fall.

Set a Realistic Goal
It’s important to work with your artist on a realistic outcome for your brows. Taking into account how you desire them to look, what’s realistic for your skin type and hair colour and whatever other recommendations your artist gives you are all important to get nailed out from before you even lay down to begin the procedure.

Most technicians will use a numbing cream prior to treatment and some throughout to keep and discomfort at bay.

Most say they just feel a little pressure but can hear the sound of it passing through the skin, a good technician will know the correct depth of the blade to keep the pain manageable.

At first the area will feel a little tender and tight once this starts to heal, this will turn into itchiness and flaking, which eventually subsides.

You will take away a list of aftercare instructions as well as a solution to apply to the brows through the crucial healing faze.

Microblading typically lasts 18 to 30 months. You’ll also need touch-ups every 12 to 18 months, depending on the look you want.

Each touch-up session involves some healing time as well.

After the first session is completely normal for the healing process to lead to loss of pigment as the body will try to remove the foreign pigment, the ideal outcome is retention of 85% at the end of the 6 weeks healing period.

You will need a top up appointment 6 weeks  after your first session to complete the treatment.

To have long-lasting and safe results of Microblading, it is so important to do some research and select an artist who is certified and has experience in the industry.

As a certified trainer in this treatment, I have definitely come across most scenarios connected to this treatment over the years.

A qualified technician will know the importance of carrying out a full pre treatment consultation and carry out a patch test on the skin of all products used in treatment, to make 100% sure that there will be no reaction before you go ahead with the full procedure.

The importance of using sterile and safe tools is paramount, as it can cause diseases like hepatitis, HIV, and other serious skin infections, as well.

So, choose a certified microblading artist who puts your safety and health first during the procedure, maintains hygiene, and keeps all the equipment sterile. The technician must be capable of satisfying your queries related to the care you need to take after the process.

We welcome as many questions as you have, pre, during and post treatment.

An experienced Artist will always advise you if expectations are not realistic or if they may not suit the clients skin type.
